Why I offer gift coaching sessions

THE TRUTH ABOUT MY FREE COACHING OFFER

“Giving connects two people, the giver and the receiver, and this connection gives birth to a new sense of belonging."
- Deepak Chopra -

When things don't make sense to me, I change them.

Back in the day, interviewing for a position in human resources, my experiences were dreadful.

Nervousness made me forget meaningful examples (which I remembered on the way home). I felt challenged to put my best self foward. If I followed up for feedback or a status update, calls were rarely returned. It was tortuous.

So when it was my turn to lead, I designed a process so applicants could be at their best. And to dial down the stress!

They received interview questions in advance so they'd be prepared, reminded them nervousness is a "thing" and we made ourselves available after the fact. And we never left candidates wondering on a Friday afternoon where their application was at.

My team knew success meant all candidates would want to work with us (or join our credit union) whether they got the job or not.

The truth about the world we live in and "free coaching"
Everyone I know has an interview story.

And everyone I know, has been pitched to or knows what it's like to suspect there is another agenda at play. It's a gross feeling.

And just like I hated how I felt when I was being interviewed, I hate being sold to.

It puts me on edge and it keeps me guarded.

I feel suspicious. My thinking is clouded. My heart beats uncomfortably.

So just as I changed the interviewing process, I've designed my business (and all things that sniff of sales) to ensure that grossy gross feeling doesn't happen.

Which is why I'm clear about my intentions around gift - that's right - gift, pitch-free, complimentary coaching sessions. This is real. No sales gimmicks going on here.

What is a gift coaching session?

A gift session is one hour, me + you, where you get to explore something that deeply matters to you. Maybe it's a challenge, or an area where you're longing for clarity. It might be about something aspirational or a transition you're in.

There are lots of reasons why women explore new versions of success.

When we start, I'll be reminding you that we will not talk about working together. (If you do want to explore this we'll do it on a different call, so as to not muddle the experience.) The session is confidential and we only go as deep or as wide as you want.

When you schedule the call online, I'll ask a few questions, but mostly I gather all the context in our session. It doesn't take long!

Inside the session, questions I'll ask are to explore what is tricky, how you'd like life to be and what you've tried. To support your action taking (I love action takers), we'll co-create a practice or two for you to try.

At the close, I'll invite you to write me back with 2-3 insights you've had, as a chance for you to identify what was most key. That's it.

Expect great things!

Who are they for?

My sweet spot is supporting accomplished, professional women. In your life, it's easy for you to see tangible measures of success, and that's what others see too. On the inside however, you may be feeling restless - like "I've done a lot and now what" or you're burnt out and exhausted, wondering how you'll find the energy to carry on. You're likely aware that it's time for success on the inside. Joy, ease, calm, vitality - you name it.

It doesn't matter if we've worked together or not, these sessions are intended to support you!  And they're also for women you suspect would benefit from a dose of support. If you see a friend, or peer, who is spinning her wheels, send her my way!

What's in it for you?

  • Clarity and perspective: Ten + years of experience & wisdom will guarantee you receive a fresh take on the situation at hand. The fog will clear!

  • A breakthrough: The methodology I lever will help you see a new way forward!

  • Practical action steps: Insights you have will be made tangible so you can start moving forward right away.

  • A test drive! Coaching is an investment or time, and energy and resources. If you're looking for a coach, why not try out a few before making the decision?

  • Confidence: No matter what, there will be things you're doing well, and skills that have brought you to today. This will be honored.

What's in it for me?

  • Relevance: In my 1-1 work, my group programs and in my writing, my aim is to be relevant. Being in coaching conversations keeps me close to the real challenges women face.

  • Connection: As an extravert, working online, I intentionally create meaningful connections to nourish myself. Gift sessions are a part of this. I have met so many amazing women over the years!

  • Mastery: I coach consensually, that means I am not a coach to my friends or family (unless they specifically ask). Gift sessions allow me to deepen my skill.

  • Fit matters: For sustained change, women who work with me need to "get under the hood". This requires courage and vulnerability and readiness. Our coaching exploration will help us see if we'd be a good match.

  • I LOVE coaching! It is and will continue to be my life's work. Coaching is my zone of genius and deepest joy, and when I coach, it is deeply nourishing.

What you might be thinking...

It's okay if you feel skeptical about this all - no doubt, many sales professionals have left us feeling preyed upon. "Free" doesn't exist right? If this comes up for you, simply acknowledge it, pause, and re-read this later if you're called to.

We're very accustomed to thinking there is another agenda at play, which is why I want to clear the air and share how I'm redefining success!

Or, perhaps you're wondering if I don't value my skills or have low self worth. Legit! While I certainly have my own inner noise and challenges, it's not in the area of coaching.
